2012 is almost here and we hope to see a new Torrid Model Search this coming summer of 2012. The Plus size clothing line Torrid does a annual modeling contest where they search nationwide to find the curviest girls around to represent the brand.
Torrid hires plus size models to show off their fashion trends both in their catalogs and online. Torrid is the most popular plus size model search in the country and every year thousands of models apply.
Torrid looks for the trendy plus size model and helps curvy girls realize their dream of modeling since modeling is not just for the twigs.
Normally, the way it works is that during the summer months, Torrid stores across the country host the model search, take applications as well as hosting many other events for the ladies.
The model competition is called ‘Torrids House of Dreams Model Search’. The model search is a great way to get exposure and rumor has it that in recent years quite a few of their finalists ended up with modeling contracts with big agencies such as Ford Models and Wilhelmina.
Torrid sells many items including lots of denims, accessories, intimate apparel, shoes and gift items. Torrid sells clothing for every occasion from casual sweaters and denim to party dresses. Torrid only offers plus sizes from 12 to 26 in very flattering styles no matter what size.
Torrid has stores in just about every mall from coast to coast. Along with taking applications in stores they usually do an online and mail in application as well for people who are not close enough to a store. The contest also sometimes includes online voting so everyone can participate and vote for their favorite model.
Aside from the annual model search, Torrid also does other events like last years High School Model competition and the hi school fashion advisory panel they created with 12 finalists.

I am HIGHLY interested to become the next new face for Torrids 2012 modeling contest. I have been a BIG fan of Torrids for 3 years and I have some of their clothing. But fo the past two years I applied to be a plus size model for Torrids and got an email saying they weren’t sponsoring any more model contests at that time. I was highly disappointed because I live in a small city in Georgia that doesn’t feature acting/modeling type industry opportunities. Hi, I am 5’6″ and 150 lbs. I am a size 10 which is too big for regular modeling and too small for plus size. I am right in between and I do not know what to do. I love Torrid stores and I shop at Torrid often usually taking clothes that are a size too large just because I love their styles so much. I am only 15 and still growing so I figure I will be a size 12 soon, even though I would rather be smaller my family is all plus sizes and I am very curvy.
