Disney has put out a casting call for the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars VII.
Seems that auditions are out and casting directors are looking to cast 7 new main roles for the upcoming production. Star Wars fans, the wait may be over soon because the new movie will begin production very soon.
Disney Films and George Lucas are teaming up to bring us another Star Wars Trilogy. The new movie will start off after “return of the Jedi” but plot details have not been officially revealed yet.
The word has been out for sometime that a new Star Wars movie is on the way and casting directors are now trying to fill roles for the new Star Wars flick. The breakdowns below have gone out to agents and describe the new roles which range in age from teen to 70’s.
They are casting 2 younger roles as well, one will be a teenage girl and the other will be a young, early 20’s man.
Star Wars will be directed by by J.J. Abrams who also directed the sci-fi hits Star Trek Into Darkness and Super 8. The movie is being cast now, will begin filming soon and will be released in theaters in 2015.
There have also been rumors that some of the original cast, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher may even be coming back to reprise their roles.
The film will be shooting in the UK later on in the year and most likely into 2014.
Star Wars Episode 7 will be holding auditions for new characters.
- Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humor, fit.
- Young 20-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.
- A late 20-something male, fit, handsome and confident.
- A 70-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanor. Also doesn’t need to be particularly fit.
- A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.
- A 40-something male, fit, military type.
- A 30-something male, intellectual. Apparently does not need to be fit.
Since no official details have been revealed, you can check out the following parody to maybe get some insight to what could possible be the storyline.
OK, so the clip above is not the actual trailer and most likely we will have to wait until 2015 to get a glimpse of the real deal.
I’m sure most fans of the last 2 trilogies can’t wait to see the new characters or who gets cast to play them. For those of you who believe you fit one of the above roles and want to get in on the film, well, you better contact your agent because casting for the roles listed above is only being done through agents.
The film is being cast in the US and the U.K. and the casting directors are April Webster and Alyssa Weisberg for the united States and Nina Gold will be doing the casting in the U.K.
Extras casting is still quite far off as extras will be hired after the movie begins production. Since the movie will be filming in the U.K., extras will also be cast there. We are anticipating that the movie will need lots of extras (hopefully in great costumes) and for anyone dying to get in on the action, you will need to keep an eye out next year for any extras casting calls.
There has been updates for the Star Wars auditions. 2 Lead roles are open and open casting calls have begun! As for extras for the film, we shall have to wait and see when production begins. The film is supposed to be shooting in Pinewood Studios as well as the Bad Robot facility.

The words “Star Wars” are illuminating. The courage and the integrity these actors have made me hopeful that a small town girl like me can reach for the stars. I just need a little lift. The heart I have is so big and powerful it can take on any challenge and opportunity that is given to me. Disney has made some great movies and Disney plus George Lucus should make this the best Star Wars series of the three. I am very excited to see the casting calls go out.
