Model for Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) and Hollister Co.
Abercrombie & Fitch as well as some of their other brands like Hollister, Abercrombie Kids and Gilly Hicks have casting calls for models to model their clothing line for ads, campaigns, websites and much more. Unlike other model castings, Hollister and Abercrombie are a bit different. The company hires their employees to model for the brand.
Many of their casting calls are not open to the public, rather they are open to employees only. Yep, if you want to model for Hollister or A&F, you better get a job at their store first. Luckily, the brands have expanded so much that most malls have a A&F or Hollister store inside.
Hollister Co.(HCo), is teen oriented brand by Abercrombie & Fitch Co. The clothing line is inspired by a casual Southern California look and it was aimed at teens who are 14 to 18 years of age. Because of its teen demographic, Hollister was priced to be more affordable than its parent brand of Abercrombie & Fitch.
Hollister carries a surfer inspired decor and many of their products such as their line of body care products are named after Southern California beaches. The beach inspiration is very apparent throughout the store with the store front resembling beach shacks. The stores music selection for browsing customers is also surfer inspired.
Hollister is only one of Abercrombie’s brands. The retailer has other brands which include:
- Abercrombie & Fitch – Casual clothing for young adults
- Abercrombie Kids – A children’s clothing line
- Prep-school by Abercrombie & Fitch (Abercrombie Kids) – “classic cool” for kids 7 through 14
- Hollister Co. – SoCal inspired clothing, fragrances and accessories for teenagers 14 through 18.
- Gilly Hicks – Australian inspiration – “Down Under” – designed for adult women
- Ruehl No.925 – Upscale brand that they stopped producing in 2010 due to dissappointing sales.
In 2009, Hollister built a giant NYC store. The 4 floor, 40,000 square foot clothing shop is located at 600 Broadway in the SoHo district. Since opening its flagship store, Hollister has kept expanding by opening up many stores in Canada, the U.S., Europe and the UK. Abercrombie & Fitch also has some Latin American and Asian locations. The company now has over a dozen such giant ‘flagship’ stores for Hollister and A&F. They opened a second flagship store in New York and 3 flagship stores where opened in Asia including an A&F in Tokyo.
One interesting thing about Hillister stores are the shutters in the windows which do not allow passers by to easily see inside the store.
So, if your dream is to model for one of the Abercrombie brands like Hollister, Abercrombie Kids or Gilly Hicks, you will need to get a job in retail first. The companies website states that in order to be considered to model for Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch, you must be an employee at one of their stores. This is from their site “If you are 17 or older, you can apply for a store position at any Hollister Co. The models in our marketing start by working in our stores and then become eligible to be cast for Hollister Co. marketing campaigns.”
Unfortunately, Abercrombie is not known for being overly great to their workers. The company was actually indited into the “Sweatshop hall of shame” in 2010 for some of its labor practices. Abercrombie was added to the list which includes other large clothing retailers Gymboree, Hanes, Kohl’s, LL Bean, and Walmart.

Just so you guys know, commercial modeling has no height requirement. Y’all are thinking of high-fashion/runway modeling. I work at Abercrombie & Fitch as a model and I’m 4’10. If you’re really serious about modeling for them, apply for a job if you’re over 17.

Did I mention how much I LOVE their clothes and stores. The shutters are great and they have them at the store I go to at the mall.
BTW, I am also a good height to model because I am not short. I am 5’7.5″ and taller than most guys when I wear high heels.
I would make a perfect model for Hollister or Abercrombie. I love their stores and their clothes. I have wanted to be a model my whole life and I know that I can do it. I wish that they would have open casting calls in 2012 because I would love to be in their catalogs. I do not work for Hollister stores or a A&F store so I guess I would first need to get a job there to be in one of their catalogs. I wish I could just audition for one of their casting directors because I am perfect for it! I look like a surfer girl and have that look already. I live by the beach so I am very tan all year long, have a great complexion, great personality and curves in all the right places to make their clothes look really good.
