Audition information coming in 2014 for new super heroes.
In 2014, Disney, Marvel and Netflix are teaming up to create 4 new TV shows and a series that combines them, “The Defenders”. The new project was just announced and auditions should be taking place this year in 2014 for the Disney / Marvel venture. Netflix will be picking up the shows as part of their offering in 2015 and 2016.
Netflix has stepped into the arena of original content with their “House of Cards” series that stars Kevin Spacey. It seems that in the next few years they will be expanding on their original content with more new shows. Netflix has teamed up with Marvel and Disney for a new superhero show The Defenders and 4 other superhero shows that relate to the Defenders.
Disney Studios, Marvel comics and Netflix will team on four shows that will begin with 13 episodes. The four new shows are Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. The 4 separate shows will then have a combined show or mini-series, “The Defenders”. This is close to what happened with the “Avengers” movie when individual projects, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk and other superhero films combined into “The Avengers”. “the Avengers” and all the individual movies and franchises that fed into it made the franchise billions with record breaking box office takes. Now, the companies want to see that format go to the small screen in the form of series instead of films. This will definitely be a project to watch.
This is the first time something like this will be attempted for TV and Netflix streaming, on-demand format seems to be a great choice. Viewers will be able to see only the super heroes they want and of course, watch them all together in the “Defenders” series.
The folks at Netflix have commented on how thrilled they are to be working with Disney and Marvel. The shows are now in the early stages of casting and pre-production. They look as though they may be released sometime in 2015 and by 2016, Netflix hopes to become the subscription service to go to for Disney exclusive movies and TV shows from their various branches such as Walt Disney Studios, Disney Pixar and the recently acquired Lucasfilm.
Marvel.com announced that “Marvel TV is teaming up with Netflix for an unprecedented deal: four live-action TV series, plus a mini-series “programming event.”
The series will be produced by Marvel Television and ABC Television Studios and will run for at least 13 episodes. Taking place primarily in the gritty world of Hell’s Kitchen, the story will be a mini series that brings together the dream team of New York’s finest superheroes. The castings have not yet been announced but Disney and Marvel are taking applications for aspiring actors. This is a great chance for any actor that is looking for their big break. Do not miss out apply now!
So who will be cast for the roles of the new Disney / Marvel Superheroes?
Filming has not yet been scheduled but Disney and Marvel casting directors probably have their eyes and ears open for cast possibilities. Hopefully, soon more information will come out on who is auditioning for the 4 super hero roles as well as more information about the roles themselves from the casting call breakdowns. The shows will also be hiring many extras and featured extras when they begin filming.
About the characters:
Jessica Jones:
Midtown High student Jessica Campbell was a friend to Peter Parker and happened to even be there when Peter was bitten by the spider. Soon thereafter, Jessica was riding in a car with her family when they collided with a military convoy carrying radioactive chemicals. Her family was killed and, after spending several months in a coma, she was placed in foster care and adopted by the Jones family. Jessica later discovered that her radiation exposure granted her super strength, limited invulnerability, and flight (which she never fully mastered during her superhero career).
luke Cage:
Luke Cage is a flawed hero. Luke Cage possesses superhuman strength and stamina, and has extremely dense skin and muscle tissue which render him highly resistant to physical injury. Cage possesses these abilities as a result of his participation in dangerous, and highly controversial, experiments while in prison.
Daredevil:
Matt Murdock gets blinded and his lack of sight causes his other senses to be better than most humans, actually, they are heightened to a super human level. He develops a radar sense and can sense everything around him better than most people who can see.
Iron Fist:
The Iron Fist is a martial arts master who was very well trained and now moved to New York.
