The Price is Right is one of the longest running game shows on TV. The game show was hosted by Bob Barker for many years and later was taken over by Drew Carey.
Getting onto the Price is Right is easier than many may think. There aren’t any casting calls, tests, auditions or call backs. “The
Price is Right” picks its contestants from the people who got tickets to be in the studio audience. The show makes tickets available most of the year and there are 6 to 10 show tapings a month…. Ohh, and did I say the Price is Right tickets are free!
for 2011 the show has the following taping schedule:
April: 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27
May: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 23, 24, 25, 31
June: 1, 2, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29
July: 5, 6, 7, 18, 19, 20
August: 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24
September: 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14
Before you can go on the show there are a few requirements that you must meet:
You can not have been on the Price is Right in 10 years Not been on any other game show in the last year
Never been on more than 2 game shows in 10 years
and not have any affiliation to CBS or any of its employees
When you come to the taping you are also required to bring 2 forms of ID and a social security card or something with your social security number on it like a tax return.
To get tickets you simply call the show and request them. Tickets for individuals, couples and small groups are not guaranteed, they are on a first come first served basis. Groups of 15 to 20 people can get seating guarantees by calling the group booking department.
Once you have your tickets, you have a chance to get on the show. The contestants that get up on stage and actually play the game are chosen from the line waiting to get in the audience. Sometime before going in a production assistant will pull people out of line to go meet with producers. The contestants are chosen before the show and called up as the show is taping.
What producers want to see from contestants is a lot of enthusiasm. They are looking for dynamic and outgoing individuals who are not afraid to show their excitement or emotion when called to the stage, win or lose. The show typically tends to choose more women than men for that reason. The show also chooses many college kids, people in uniform and cute girls.
You must be over 18 to get on the Price is Right or into the audience, children are not allowed to attend the taping.
To get your group of 15+ onto the Price is Right, call the Group Booking Department at (818) 295-2707, Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm PST, for further information.
