Jobs for dancers, singers and actors at Universal Studios

If you’re looking for a fun job and enjoy the performing arts, Universal Studios may have some great opportunities for you. Universal Studios Hollywood, Orlando and Japan all hire actors and dancers for their shows and attractions all year long. This week they are holding auditions for actors, dancers, roller skaters, drummers and other performers.

Universal Studios has a multitude of live shows that employ singers, dancers, stunt men, drivers, athletes, musicians and acrobats. Universal Hollywood and Orlando hold tryouts locally at their parks and Universal Studios Japan does an annual audition tour that travels to many cities in the U.S., Canada, Australia and The UK. Casting Directors for the theme park shows have gone to MELBOURNE, SYDNEY, GOLD COAST, LONDON, ORLANDO, NEW YORK, TORONTO, LAS VEGAS and HOLLYWOOD. The Universal Studios Japan Theme Park is in Osaka, but unlike the other 2 parks, Japan holds casting calls in many cities thereby allowing people from all over the world to audition.

The theme park puts on many shows all year long like the popular Waterworld stunt show and Terminator 2 3D. The park also has opportunities for holiday specials and parades.

Shake It Up – Disney Cast

casting for disney channel 2012 – Shake it Up season 3 may be coming soon in 2012 and maybe you too will have a shot to audition for ‘Shake It Up’.

Shake It Up premiered on November 7, 2010 and the Disney Channel show was created by Chris Thompson. Shake It Up stars Bella Thorne as CeCe Jones and Zendaya as Rocky Blue.

When the show was cast over 200 girls auditioned for the parts of CeCe and Rocky – Bella Thorne and Zendaya were the lucky and talented girls who got the part. Bella Thorne had never been a dancer and began taking dance classes and Zendaya had a background in theater. Casting directors for Disney later commented that the 2 girls were chosen because they had great energy.

The two friends become background dancers on a show called Shake It Up that is in Chicago. The series is their adventures both on and off the Shake It Up set as they try to keep their social lives, school lives and new found stardom all in balance.

The 2 girls are best friends and end up in many comedic situations. The show within a show format is one that Disney Channel used before with shows like Sonny with a Chance and The Famous Jett Jackson. The show within a show format creates a TV series that is about another series or people who act in another series. Shake It Up takes a dance twist because the two girls are dancers. The show is kinda like Hannah Montana, except with dance instead of singing.

Shake It Up also stars Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty and Caroline Sunshine.

Every episode of the show uses extras and other actors to support the main cast. Supporting actors and extras are cast through casting agents and those casting calls go out as needed when the show is filming.

Be in the audience for a live taping of the hit Disney Channel show Ant Farm. ANT Farm is now filming and needs you to join the audience. Come see your favorite Disney Channel stars like China Anne McClain live and in person.

Ant Farm is filmed at Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles and the minimum age to be in the audience is 10 years old.

About the show:

This Disney Channel musical comedyis about a girl named Chyna Parks, played by China Anne McClain. Chyna is an 11-year-old musical prodigy who is involved in the Advanced Natural Talents program at her high school. The cast also includes other high school students in the ANT program, Olive, Chyna’s friend, played by Sierra McCormick and a boy named Fletcher (Jake Short). Chyna has some problems at school and some people may not want her to be there like Lexi Reed.

Chyna has an older brother named Cameron who is played by Carlon Jeffrey who feels he is kind of in Chyna’s shadow and tries really hard not to be and also Lexi Reed who plays the “mean” girl who may be a bit jealous of Chyna’s talents. ANT Farm also stars Alexandria Deberry and Aedin Mincks.

Please note that the show does film in Los Angeles and those that get tickets will need to find their own transportation to Los Angeles and to the studio. Please do not apply for tickets if you can not make it to Los Angeles Hollywood Center Studios at the time of taping. All children will have to be accompanied by an adult.

The story begins with Rick, ex cop, waking up from a coma only to find the devastation outside and the blood thirsty zombies. Rick meets other survivors and they keep moving trying to find safety. Rick looks for his family and miraculously finds them well and alive. The group now battles zombies and attempts to get the zombies before the zombies get them. They find guns and ammo along with other weapons, cars, gas, and food along the way.

True Blood Casting Call – HBO

Bon Temps is a fictional town where strange and supernatural things tend to happen. Vampires are among the towns citizens and walk among them. A new scientific invention called Tru Blood, a synthetic blood, allows the vampires to drink the Tru Blood and live amongst the humans.

True Blood has a huge cast of dozens of actors that all interact with each other and the show in intertwining plots. The main character is Sookie played by Anna Paquin.

True Blood is now filming new episodes for the latest season and have put out a casting call for the following characters:

[JOE BOB] CAUCASIAN, EARLY 30s, White trash. An anti-vampire terrorist wearing an Obama mask to hide his identity, he shoots one vampire with a hunting rifle and takes his victim prisoner. Recurring.

[FEMALE NURSE] 40s. This polite but authoritative female nurse attempts (but fails) to stop a conversation between two upset patients. Co-star.

[MALE NURSE] This male nurse politely attempts to restrain an agitated patient on a gurney. Co-star.

cartoon Network – Level Up

A new live action show on the Cartoon Network is ‘Level Up‘. Level Up takes a new and fresh twist for a teen sitcom in that rather than being based on Music or school based situation comedies, Level Up focuses on something that is almost a national pass time for tweens and teens, video games.

Auditions for Level Up were held last year and the 4 main heroes were cast. Extras casting for various episodes is done as needed when the episodes film.

Level Up premiered on CN in January of 2012 and is part of the Cartoon Networks new set of shows that are live action and not animated series.

The first season will have 22 episodes and the story line is about teens who inadvertently open up a portal into a video game. That plot has been a popular one for many animated shows but a live action version is a first for teen TV series.

The plot of the show goes as follows:
High school teens,Wyatt, Dante, Lyle, and Angie by accident get involved in events that open up a portal into a new dimension, one of video games. The teens are all avid gamers and have now found themselves in a position that brings their game into the real world and beging a troublesome quest to fight their virtual foes in a real world situation. As things begin to get crazy in their town due to the virtual monsters becoming real, the teens find that they now have to “level up” to help save their town while dealing with high school life and their social life at the same time. The show mixes the fantasy video game world with the teens reality of everyday high school.

The story has a good vs. evil approach with the kids playing the heroes who fight against what the villain throws at them. The villain in the story is Maldark, a ruthless and narcissistic sorcerer from “Conqueror of All Worlds”, the video game that they are familiar with and have played extensively in the virtual world. Maldark is out to take over the world and our heroes want to make sure that they stop him from achieving his plans of world domination.

Disney Channel Auditions 2012 and new show ‘Madison High’

High School Musical has a new spin off – Welcome to Madison High.

Madison High is a new Disney Channel show that began filming its pilot last year and will begin running in 2012. Madison High is a spin off of the very popular High School Musical.

Like many other shows on the network, the format is a musical comedy aimed at pre-teens and teens. The show is set within a school. The cast is diverse in their interests. On the series characters have many different talents and passions. The cast includes an athlete, a musician, a blogger, an artist and a perfectionist into acting and drama. One of their teachers (Alyson Reed of High School Musical) was transferred from the High School Musical school and tends to name drop some of the High School Musical character names in the Madison High series. In a way the new Disney Channel show comedy picks up where High School Musical left off, With a favorite teacher from High School Musicals East High being transferred to Madison High and meeting another group of talented teens.

A press release for Disney described the new characters and their backgrounds and previous projects a little more:

15-year-old Luke Benward has the lead role of Devin Daniels, a motocross racer looking for a new hobby. The native of Nashville, Tennessee is the son of an actress and a musician, and since age 5 has appeared in commercials, music videos and movies, including the Disney Channel Original Movie “Minutemen,” “How to Eat Fried Worms,” “Doggone,” “Because of Winn-Dixie,” “Mostly Ghostly,” “Dear John” and “We Were Soldiers.”

14-year-old singer Leah Lewis has landed her first leading role as Peyton Hall, a formerly home-schooled tennis champion. Born in China and raised in Orlando, Florida, Lewis has appeared in national commercials for Kraft Cheese, Home Depot and Natures Own Bread, as well as an international commercial for Disneyland Hong Kong.

12-year-old G Hannelius is set to play Wednesday Malone, a precocious starlet in the making. The native of Boston, Massachusetts began her acting career at the age of 8 at the Children’s Theater of Maine. A familiar face on Disney Channel, she starred in the short form series “Leo Little’s Big Show” and “Den Brother,” and has appeared on “Sonny With A Chance,” “Good Luck Charlie,” “Hannah Montana” and Disney XD’s “I’m in the Band.” Her other television credits include a series regular role on ABC’s “Surviving Suburbia.”

The series is the first cross between a Disney Channel Movie and a Disney Channel series for the network. Madison High is written by the man who produced Jonas L.A, Lester Lewis and the series director, Paul Hoen also directed Camp Rock 2. The series is produced by ‘It’s a Laugh Productions’ which is one of the primary production companies involved in Disney Channel original shows.

Madison High stars Luke Benward (How to Eat Fried Worms), Genevieve Hannelius(Good Luck Charlie, Sonny with a Chance), Leah Lewis, Katherine McNamara, Mark Indelicato(Ugly Betty) and Nolan Sotillo (Corey and Lucas For The Win).

The series is in production now and will premiere on the Disney Channel in 2012. The regular cast has already been selected but extras, featured extras and special guests may all still be needed for the show.

Nickelodeon just introduced a new show to its line up called ‘How To Rock’. How To Rock stars Cymphonique Miller as a school girl turned singer.

Cymphonique is no newcomer to showbiz. She is the daughter of a successful music producer, Percy Miller and has been performing for a long time. Cymphonique has performed with many music acts and singers including including Romeo, JoJo, Raven-Simone, and Ashley Tisdale.

How To Rock is about Kacey (Cymphonique Miller) a school aged girl whose life changes as soon as she gets braces and becomes unpopular because of her new look. The TV series is based on a popular book series called ‘How to Rock Braces and Glasses’.

Now that Kacey is no longer in with the popular crowd, she needs to find something to fill her time with. She finds that she is a great singer and takes on music. She forma a band with other school mates. A band vs. band rivalry appears as Cymphonique’s old friends also form a band and the bands end up battling each other.

The show uses extras for its episodes. To become an extra on ‘How To Rock’ you will need to register with some background agencies that accept child talent. Since many extras on shows are actually very young looking adults, you can register with a background casting agency like Central Casting if you are over the age of 18.

Another way to get into the show is to be in the studio audience, even though the studio audience is not filmed and will not be shown on TV, It could be a fun experience to see your favorite Nickelodeon stars live and you will not need to audition or tryout to do it. The hit CW show The Vampire Diaries may be looking for extras and background for the show.

The Vampire Diaries is a huge hit with teens and has received numerous Teen Choice awards and nominations. “The Vampire Diaries” won 7 Teen Choice Awards in 2010. The show won awards for its stars with Choice breakout star awards and and also won Choice TV show. The network and show creators have also mentioned that a spin off of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ may be in the works for 2012 and 2013.

Vampire Diaries Auditions

The supernatural drama is set in the town of Mystic Falls where vampires walk among the humans. One teen girl runs into one of these vampires and falls for him.

Vampire Diaries is based on a series of books written by L.J. Smith. The TV show was created by Alex Lloyd, Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec and is currently in its 3rd season having premiered in 2009. The current season will end in May 2012 and we are hoping that a season 4 of Vampire Diaries will be announced soon.

The small town of Mystic Falls has a good amount of supernatural occurrences. The series revolves around the relationship between Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Elena is the seventeen year old girl who falls for 162 year old Stefan. Damon is Stefan’s brother and is also fond of Elena. The characters change over the seasons. In the beginning, Stefan was the nicer of the vampire brothers as the show progresses Stefan finds his darker side and Damon becomes more caring.

Vampire Diaries shoots in Atlanta and is currently casting extras in the Atlanta area.
